Summarizing NBC’s new comedy pickups with a short synopsis, cast information and the target premiere dates. Also included is information about NBC’s returning comedies.
NBC has decided to make a large number of renewals and pickups this season. Because of this, it is practical to break up all of NBC’s pickups by genre. Following the same format as my article on NBC dramas (located at the end of this article) I have decided to do the same with their comedies.

New Comedy Series
1600 Penn: A series about a typical yet dysfunctional American family who also happens to reside in the White House. It is described as ‘Modern Family’ meets ‘The West Wing’ and stars Bill Pullman, Jenna Elfman, Josh Gad, Martha MacIsaac, Andre Holland, Amara Miller and Benjamin Stockman. This series will have a midseason premiere.
Animal Practice: A series about a revered New York veterinarian with the innate ability to deal with any animal, but not their owners. The series stars are Justin Kirk, Tyler Labine, Kym Whitley, Bobby Lee and Betsy Sodaro. The series will air Wednesdays at 8pm.
Go On: A series about a cocky sportscaster coping with the recent loss of his wife who is forced to attend grief counseling before he can return to work. The series stars Matthew Perry, Allison Miller, Bill Cobbs, Julie White, Khary Payton, Laura Benanti, Suzy Nakamura and Tyler James Williams. The series will ait Tuesdays at 9pm following The Voice.
Guys With Kids: Series about three, thirty-something guys attempting to maintain their youthful identities while adjusting to becoming new fathers. Jesse Bradford, Zach Cregger, Anthony Anderson, Jamie Lynn Sigler and Tempestt Bledsoe headline the series. The series will air Wednesdays at 8:30pm following Animal Practice.
The New Normal: Series about a successful gay couple living in Beverly Hills taking in a poor, single mother waitress
from the Midwest who agrees to be a surrogate for the couple. The series features Andrew Rannells, Justin Bartha, Georgia King and Ellen Barkin. The series will air Tuesdays at 9:30pm following Go On.Next Caller (6 episodes): A series about a smart, charismatic woman and her messy, nonchalant co-worker who host a radio relationship show. Dane Cook , Colette Wolfe, Joy Osmanski and Ryan Devlin star in the series. This series will have a midseason premiere.
Save Me: Series about a woman with a near-death experience having an epiphany that results in her becoming a prophet of God while her friends, family and neighbors have mixed reactions about the new development. The series stars Anne Heche, Michael Landis, Alexandra Breckenridge, Lamman Rucker and Madison Davenport. This series will have a midseason premiere.
